Love & Affection The Green
When we first joined forces with Hawaii's own The Green, we knew we were tapping into a massive musical movement. Love & Affection served as our first official introduction, offering a potent taste of the studio sessions that would eventually blossom into their acclaimed Easy Star debut, Ways & Means. This collection perfectly captured the burgeoning Pacific island reggae sound, blending rich, multi-part vocal harmonies with heavyweight roots rhythms. It brought a fresh, soulful dynamic to our roster, seamlessly complementing the progressive stateside reggae we were championing with acts like Rebelution and Passafire.
Across these five tracks, the band showcases a unique ability to weave smooth R&B and pop sensibilities into traditional island reggae frameworks. Anthems like the title track and "Got Me In Love" highlight their knack for crafting undeniable, feel-good hooks that immediately resonated far beyond their home state. The EP is ultimately anchored by the more meditative "Travlah" and its accompanying "Travlah Dub"—a rare, stripped-down gem from the sessions that highlights the rhythm section's deep pocket. It's a nod to the classic dub excursions that have always been a cornerstone of the Easy Star catalog, making this EP a perfect, no-filler snapshot of a band stepping confidently onto the global stage.
