I Can Breathe (Gaudi Remix) Indubious ᕁ Gaudi
In April 2021, the reggae power-trio Indubious released The Bridge, a spiritual and organic collection that seamlessly blended reggae with electronica and dancehall. The ambitious project featured a massive lineup of collaborators, including the late Zumbi of Zion I, Mike Love, Jah9, and legendary voices like Capleton, Anthony B, and Sizzla. Following the success of the original record, the band began curating a series of reimagined tracks for the upcoming project, The Bridge Remixed, inviting world-class producers to bring fresh perspectives to their soulful arrangements.
For the first installment of this remix series, Indubious teamed up with the acclaimed UK producer Gaudi, a pioneer in the dub and electronica scene. Gaudi takes the lead on "I Can Breathe," an deeply personal and autobiographical track detailing singer/keyboardist Evan Burton's life-saving double lung transplant and his lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis. By shifting the track into new sonic territories, Gaudi honors the weight of the lyrics while providing a pulse-pounding electronic backdrop, accompanied by a heavy dub version that strips the song down to its rhythmic essence.
