Sly Dunbar

Sly Dunbar (1952–2026) was one of reggae music's most influential drummers and one half of the legendary production duo Sly & Robbie, known as "The Riddim Twins." Starting his career at 15 with the Yardbrooms, he pioneered the "Rockers" drum style that defined late-1970s reggae and was among the first to introduce electronic drums to the genre. With Robbie Shakespeare, he played on thousands of recordings, toured with Peter Tosh, founded Taxi Records, and won two Grammy Awards. Their collaborations extended far beyond reggae, working with Bob Dylan, Grace Jones, The Rolling Stones, No Doubt, and countless others across a career spanning five decades.
