On A Mission Gentleman's Dub Club

Released: June 9, 2023 Album
On A Mission

Released in June 2023, On A Mission is the seventh studio outing from the Leeds-based giants. Coming off the back of 2021's Down to Earth, the band teamed up once more with Easy Star Records to drop a record that proves why they remain the gold standard for UK reggae and dub.

For this project, the GDC crew reunited with producer Bradford Ellis (the mastermind behind their Pound for Pound collaboration). The result is a masterclass in genre-bending, fusing high-octane ska and heavy dub with sharp hip-hop edges and electronic textures. It's an album built on raw studio energy—driven by Luke Allwood's signature chord progressions and Ellis's massive drum programming—rather than sterile digital loops.

The tracklist is a journey through the highs and lows of the human experience. You've got the gritty, relationship-driven "Sugar Coated Lies" sitting alongside the uplifting, medicinal vibrations of the title track. The guest features are equally heavyweight, with soulful turns from Hollie Cook on “Play My Games”," Eva Lazarus on the anthem “High Hopes”," plus appearances from Gardna, Sara Lugo, and Josh Waters Rudge of The Skints.

By pairing haunting, cinematic melodies with basslines designed to shake sound systems, On A Mission shows that after 15 years, Gentleman's Dub Club hasn't just kept the pace—they're setting it.
