The video, directed by Nickii Kane, brings to life the fiery fervor heard in Lila’s versatile flow and in the rugged trap-inspired beat produced by Kasadie “Caspa” Jones. From her first home in Kingston to her hometown in the countryside of Manchester, Lila takes the viewers on a vibrant walk through her stomping grounds in Jamaica, with friends and family along the way. Later, her crew – which includes a star-studded cast like dancehall artist Chi Ching Ching and GRAMMY-nominated reggae singer Protoje – turns the streets into a lively party.
“The song and music video for ‘Where I’m Coming From’ means a lot to me. I finally had an opportunity to summarize my story thus far and involve the people who have been, and still are, a part of my journey. The video starts with a scene in Kingston, in the bedroom that I actually lived in when I first moved to the capital. It then follows me as I take a road trip back to my hometown in Christiana, Manchester (Jamaica). I’m greeted by all my family and friends, a sort of homecoming vibes. The reception was overwhelming! It was a whole vibe! I’m excited to share my journey and my people with the world,” a humble Lila Iké explains.
