Connection Cas Haley
Released in 2010, CONNECTION brought Cas Haley's breezy mix of acoustic pop, soul, and surf-roots reggae to Easy Star Records. Debuting at number two on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, the album leans heavily on Haley's smooth vocal delivery and rhythm-driven guitar playing rather than dense studio production. With a natural focus on everyday life, family, and staying positive, the record captures an uplifting, laid-back energy. It was a strong label debut that effortlessly set the stage for his subsequent Easy Star projects, including the holiday-themed GIFTS TO GIVE EP, his 2013 full-length album LA SI DAH, and recent collaborative singles like 2025's “Messing Around” with HIRIE.
The core tracklist features some of Haley's most recognizable tunes, including the upbeat lead single "Better," the groove-heavy "Release Me (The Fear)," and a clever reggae take on Alicia Keys' "No One." This expanded Bonus Tracks Version gives listeners a little more to dig into beyond the original 13 songs. It includes a remix of "Better" handled by Easy Star All-Stars producer Michael Goldwasser, plus two collaborative acoustic tracks featuring independent reggae artist Josh Heinrichs. Together, they deliver a stripped-down alternate version of the album cut "Take a Chance" and a relaxed cover of the Peter Tosh classic "Legalize It," wrapping up the release with a natural, jam-session feel.
