Ishmael Ensemble

Ishmael Ensemble is a highly boundary-pushing British musical collective led by producer and saxophonist Pete Cunningham. While not a traditional reggae act, their highly experimental sound heavily integrates the recording and mixing techniques of classic dub with contemporary jazz, electronic music, and sweeping ambient soundscapes.

Frequently collaborating with underground vocalists and producers, the group utilizes heavy tape delay, deep sub-bass, and incredibly atmospheric live instrumentation. Their beautifully textured, deeply cinematic releases have garnered widespread acclaim across the UK's progressive jazz and electronic music scenes.
