Easy Star is very excited to add another great band to its growing roster: Savannah, Georgia’s Passafire is the latest addition to the family.
Passafire will release its fifth studio album, VINES, on November 12. The record is currently being mixed by Paul Leary (Sublime, Pepper, U2. Slightly Stoopid) who also worked with the band on their last album.
“Passafire continues to stretch Easy Star’s sound and style,” says Lem Oppenheimer, co-founder of the label. “They bring a harder rock edge while still grounding their music in a progressive reggae base. They fit the mold of all of our artists: dedicated, hard working, touring their butts off, and never settling for what people expect of them.”
For their part, the band is excited to join the venerable label. Ted Bowne, lead singer/guitarist, says that they used to drive for hours to see bands like John Brown’s Body and Easy Star All-Stars, and that Easy Star always represented the finest bands and music in the genre. “We always pushed ourselves harder, seeing what Easy Star and the bands on the label were doing.”
Passafire has built a strong and growing following since forming in 2003 through the release of acclaimed albums and relentless touring. They have hit the road with 311, Rebelution, Pepper, The Expendables, Vans Warped Tour, The Wailers, The Green, John Brown's Body, and of course, Easy Star All-Stars.
Now that they have teamed up together, Passafire and Easy Star Records are ready to take things to the next level.
